Fort Sutter Section PECG Candidates 2007
Director -- Hafizur Chowdhury, P.E.
I am an Air Resources Engineer with the Air Resources Board (ARB) of the California Environmental Protection Agency. I have been working with ARB since April 1999. Since I joined ARB I became a PECG member and served as President-Elect and section President. My goal if elected to Director of the Fort Sutter Section is to fulfill the duties of Director to the best of my ability. The duties as Director would include ensuring that the concerns of Fort Sutter Section members are brought to the attention of the Corporate Board, communicating all actions by the Board to the section members, and increasing PECG membership.
President -- Kemal Gurer
I have been working as a Staff Air Pollution Specialist at Air Resources Board for nine years and have also been participating at PECG Fort Sutter for the last three years. I worked two years as a Treasurer to handle financial issues and a year as President Elect to assist the President. I am putting in my candidacy for President this year. My goal in this capacity is to represent the members and address their concerns in corporate meetings. The duties also include supervising the direction and business affairs of the section, providing input to the Director on section issues, and acting as proxy to the director, if needed, for voting on corporate issues. I request your vote and support to serve at this position.
President Elect -- Vincent Agusiegbe
My name is Vincent Agusiegbe. I am an Air Resources Engineer. I work for the Air Resources Board, in the Planning and Technical Support Division. I have served in various capacities such as membership chair and V/P Rank and File for the Fort Sutter Section. I am interested in making sure that our voice – the voice of non-Caltrans members, continues to be heard by the PECG. My goal if elected as President-Elect is to , act as an assistant to the President, act as second alternate to the Director, support the Fort Sutter Section goals, become more familiar with section and corporate issues, and help identify member concerns and communicate them to the section President.
Vice Pres. Rank & File -- Terry Escarda, P.E.
I am a Hazardous Substances Engineer with the Department of Toxic Substances Control. I am interested in the office of Vice President (V/P) Rank and File because I currently am on the PECG collective bargaining team; therefore, this position will allow me to solicit input from Fort Sutter members and relay it to the Team. It would also allow me to communicate, as appropriate, bargaining issues back to the section membership. I served as Chair of the Specialty Engineers Committee for several years. I have also served as Corporate V/P At-Large for several terms. I have served before as section V/P Rank and File, as well as every other section office other than V/P Supervisory and Treasurer. It would be an honor to serve again.
Vice Pres. Supervisory -- Gayle Sweigert
I have served in a number of capacities in the past for the Fort Sutter Section. I am very interested in making sure our voice, the voice of non-Caltrans members, is heard by PECG. I also want to continue with our efforts to improve communication between the PECG Board, other PECG sections, and our membership. Finally, I would like to help recruit new management and supervisory members that our section can continue to grow and ensure that their concerns are communicated effectively to the PECG staff and the PECG Meet and Confer Team.
Treasurer -- Linda Lee, P.E.
I have worked for the Air Resources Board for over 20 years. In addition, I have served as an officer for Fort Sutter Section in the capacity of Secretary for two years and Vice President Rank and File for the past year. If re-elected as Treasurer, I shall dutifully perform the services specified in the section bylaws which are to maintain the funds allocated for Fort Sutter activities, keep accurate accounting of all expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
Secretary -- Tom Scheffelin
My name is Tom Scheffelin. I’m a mechanical engineer currently employed by the California Air Resources Board (ten years), and previously employed by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (two years). Prior to joining state service, I worked in industry for ten years. I have been actively involved with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at the local, regional, and national level, in elected offices such as Secretary, Treasurer, and Chair, as well as many committee chairs. If re-elected, I wish to continue to serve in PECG as Secretary for to help our local PECG section continue to function and prosper.
